Symptom #5: Headaches
Headaches often go hand in hand with stress, and cortisol is well known as being a stress hormone. As such, it should come as no surprise to hear that people with high cortisol levels are more likely to experience headaches. This is partly because cortisol helps to make the brain more sensitive to pain.
High cortisol levels also deplete the adrenal glands, and this causes prolactin levels to rise. This makes our bodies more sensitive to pain and this can lead to problems such as aching muscles and bad backs. If these symptoms are becoming too difficult to bear then you should arrange to get it checked out.
