Symptom #9: Pale and Clammy Skin
Pallor or pale skin can be seen when there is stress, illness, stimulant use, and anemia, among others. It is most apparent on the palms and face. It is important to distinguish pallor from fairness, which is caused by the lack of pigmentation resulting in a fair complexion.
Pallor can be seen when the patient has a migraine attack, anemia, leukemia, and motion sickness. Clammy skin describes the situation where the skin feels cold and damp. In septicemia, both pale and clammy skin can be seen in shock due to loss of circulating blood volume. Pallor and clammy skin occur due to vasoconstriction.
