Symptom #3: Fever
Defined as an increased temperature above the normal range of the body’s temperature set point, it is the body’s natural response to an infection. Experts believe that it enhances the body’s natural immune response to fighting an infection more efficiently.
A higher set point of body temperature causes muscle contractions and a cold feeling known as chills. When a fever occurs, the affected individual feels hot to the touch, looks flushed, and begins to sweat. A fever can sometimes cause a febrile seizure among the pediatric population.
