Patients who consume alcohol in high amounts on a regular basis often get diagnosed with some type of liver disease as well, which additionally affects the function of the platelets.
After recognizing that alcohol consumption affects the level of thrombocytes, it can be treated by a complete withdrawal from alcohol until there is an increase in the levels of platelets.
