9. Weakness
Our jaw muscles are not as powerful as those of a lot of other animals, but they are still powerful enough to allow us to break down our food before swallowing. If we were to lose this strength then eating our food can become a lot more difficult for us. It can also be a sign of a potentially serious underlying problem. Cancer of the head and neck can affect the muscles in the area, and this can cause us to lose strength there. In addition, head and neck cancer can cause some patients to feel numbness in the area as their nerves are affected.
