7. What Are Common Complications of Angina?

Unfortunately, there are several potential complications from angina. Patients may notice discomfort when performing regular or routine activities, such as walking. However, beyond this discomfort, patients need to be aware of the increased risk of a heart attack.

While angina can mimic the pain experienced during a heart attack, there are some signs and symptoms that differ. For example, the squeezing pressure and pain in the chest will last longer than a few minutes. Also, you will notice prolonged pain in the abdomen along with shortness of breath and increasing chest pain. Beyond these common signs, you may faint or become ill and experience vomiting. Last, you may feel an overwhelming sense of doom, which may lead to fainting or collapse.
