7. Postprocedure
Once the ECG is complete, the operator should review the tracing and see if there are any issues with the quality. If there are issues on the tracing, the issue should be addressed and the tracing is then repeated. If a repetition of the tracing is impossible or impractical, the clinician ordering the ECG should be notified for further instructions. Once an acceptable ECG tracing is obtained, the ECG leads can be removed and the patient can leave the examination table. If the adhesive is difficult to remove from the skin, a moist paper towel or alcohol pad can be provided to the patient to help remove the adhesive. The ECG is a noninvasive procedure and therefore does not cause any pain as there is no penetration of the skin.
