Symptom #5: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
As mammals, human females produce eggs that are then fertilized and develop in the womb. These eggs are produced in the ovaries and there is a natural cycle that helps ensure that fresh eggs are frequently available for fertilization. The ovaries don’t always perform as they should, though.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a condition that affects the function of the ovaries. It results in excess androgen, which is a masculine hormone, and also leads to irregular menstruation patterns. There is no known cure for polycystic ovarian syndrome, but medication is available that can at least help to limit the severity of the symptoms.
