Symptom #10: Swollen Ankles

As with everything else, the blood is affected by the power of gravity. This is not usually a problem, however, because the heart and some other systems are able to keep fluids circulating. If there are more than usual fluids in the system, though, then they could start collecting at the bottom of the body.

Insulin resistance can cause the kidneys to retain water and sodium. This can cause fluids to collect around the ankles in a condition known as edema. The hands and face are also sometimes affected. It is a symptom that you should get checked out if you have not done so already.
