Symptom #3: Athlete’s Foot
Athlete’s foot is also known as tinea pedis, and approximately 15% of the global population is affected by it. With athlete’s foot there is itching, redness, and scaly skin on the feet. While it may affect any part of the foot, it most commonly occurs in between the toes as the area is warmer and moist compared to other areas of the foot.
It can also affect the soles of the feet and nails. Infection is usually from common areas such as swimming pools, locker rooms, animals, and more. This is why it is not recommended to walk barefoot in public showers. Some preventative methods include keeping the toenails short, wearing airy footwear, and changing socks daily. The feet should be dry and clean.
