Symptom #4: Thickening Skin

Some parts of our body are prone to developing thicker skin as we grow older. These tend to be on the feet and parts of the hands, as regular friction toughens and thickens the skin over time. The nipples, however, are not usually exposed to such friction and tend not to become thicker.

If the nipples and/or the surrounding area becomes thicker, it could be a sign that you have Paget’s disease. If you are not sure, make an appointment to get it checked out by a professional as soon as you can. If you get checked and there’s no problem, then that’s a good thing. If you do have a problem and you don’t get checked, though, that’s not good at all.
