Symptom #8: Crippled Hands and Feet
It’s difficult to imagine how we would get by without our hands and feet. Some people without them do manage to adapt quite well but it can still have a considerable impact on their quality of life. Unfortunately, people with leprosy can find that their hands and feet can become crippled beyond use.
Leprosy can cause fingers and toes to become twisted and bent severely out of shape. It can also lead to the loss of digits and in some cases, the hands or feet may be lost altogether. Depending on the severity, the damage is often irreversible so the condition should be treated as soon as possible.
