Symptom #10: Nerve Damage
Our bodies are interlaced with an intricate nerve system that tells us all we need to know about our surroundings. One of its main functions is to let us know when we are in harm’s way, such as touching something that is too hot, or that we have an injury that needs protecting. Without this system, we are at risk of causing ourselves a great deal of harm.
Leprosy can cause damage to the nerves that impedes our ability to feel sensations such as heat, cold or pain. This means that we could be seriously harming ourselves and not even be aware of it. People with such a condition need to be very careful about their day to day lives.
