Home Remedy #3: Mint

Mint is perhaps best known for its incredible, fresh aroma. As such, it is often used in breath freshening products and similar, although it is also used sometimes in various dishes. It belongs in the same family as basil, and also has some properties that mean it can be used as a remedy.

It has been shown that mint has antimicrobial properties, meaning it can be useful in the fight against bacteria and viruses. This, along with its ability to soothe, makes it a suitable remedy for tonsillitis. Take a glass of boiled water and add a handful of mint leaves. Continue boiling the water until the volume has reduced by half. Strain the solution and then drink it up.
