What Is Bronchitis?
5. Chronic Bronchitis Symptoms
Like acute bronchitis, the most common symptom among patients with chronic bronchitis is a cough. The cough is generally more prominent in the fall and winter months and worsens, especially if there is an ongoing upper respiratory tract infection. Individuals with chronic bronchitis are often overweight and cyanotic.
This can be observed especially if the patient has a bluish tinge in their lips. In the early stages of the disease, the cough is present in the winter months but with time, increases in frequency, duration, and severity till there is exertional dyspnea. The cough in chronic bronchitis patients is usually productive with sputum that is yellowish, greenish, or streaked with blood.
