2. Interleukins 1 and 2

Interleukin 1 can be divided into alpha and beta. These are involved in the regulation of the body’s immune response, hematopoiesis (formation of blood components), and inflammatory reactions. They also play a role in the central nervous system. Research has shown that mice with a deletion of the type 1 interleukin receptor exhibits impairment of memory function that depends on the hippocampus. Memories that do not depend on the hippocampus is spared. Interleukin 2 play a role in the growth and differentiation of T and B cells. Interleukin 2 stimulates the production of responsive T cells and acts on B cells as a growth factor or to stimulate antibody production.
