Symptom #5: Fever
We will often try and suppress a fever when one arises, but in days gone by, a fever was a valuable ally in the fight against disease. In raising the temperature of the body to levels that are unsuitable for pathogens, a fever will help to slow the spread of the disease, or even kill it off altogether.
One potential cause of a fever is Clostridium difficile. The fever is not likely to be particularly high, except in extreme cases, but it is still a good idea to keep an eye on the patient. If the fever does get to dangerously high levels, you should cool the patient down with a cold towel and get medical assistance.
