Lidocaine Side Effect #8: Tremors

Local anesthetics work by affecting the messages that are going to the brain. With no messages reaching the brain to tell the brain that there is something wrong, the sensation of pain will not be triggered. This is extremely useful but it can result in some side effects.

Messages from the brain also help to control the muscles. With the messages being affected by lidocaine, confusion can cause tremors in the muscles. These are fairly common when using lidocaine and should not cause alarm. Medical assistance should be sought if the symptoms persist and are too severe.
