Symptom #6: Swollen Ankles
With the heart located near the top of the body, it needs to be able to pump blood down the legs and then back up again. This is achieved by keeping a minimum blood pressure and with help from special valves in the blood vessels. In the case of a mild heart attack, though, this system will become less effective.
With a failing heart, there will not be enough blood pressure to force the blood around the body. This can cause it to collect at the bottom of the body under the effect of gravity. This symptom is a sign of various conditions and is something that you should arrange to get checked out.
