Carrots are rich in nutrients and low in carbs and calories. Carrot juice introduces antioxidants into the body in the form of two carotenoid pigments: zeaxanthin and lutein.

Beta carotene, which is the primary carotenoid in carrot juice, is responsible for the orange color in carrots. The body converts beta carotene into vitamin A, itself an antioxidant. Antioxidants are compounds that counter the effects of unstable molecules called free radicals.
