Gas

Gas in the digestive tract may cause pain in the left abdomen. Sometimes accompanied by belching, bloating and flatulence, gas may be caused by swallowing too much air or eating certain foods, such as beans and cruciferous vegetables. It may also be a symptom of more serious medical conditions, and a doctor may order diagnostic tests to rule out.

Swallowing less air by eating slowly, chewing thoroughly and avoiding carbonated beverages may help prevent gas. Avoiding foods known to cause gas helps too.8‘Gas in the Digestive Tract.’ Johns Hopkins Medicine, www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/gas-in-the-digestive-tract
