Our immune system has evolved over billions of years to help protect us from some of the smallest threats we will face on our planet: germs. They might be tiny, invisible to the naked eye even, but they can still be devastating to us. Still, most of us are quite safe from them, but some are less safe than others. People with DiGeorge syndrome are likely to have a weaker immune system than other people. This means that they are more prone to developing infections and other diseases. They are more prone to developing oral infections, chest infections, and ear infections in particular.
