What Is DiGeorge Syndrome?

3. Hormone Imbalances
It is common for patients with DiGeorge syndrome to have an underactive parathyroid gland. These are pea-sized glands that are located in the neck just behind the thyroid gland. We have four of these glands, with two either side of the neck in what can be described as a butterfly formation. These glands are mostly responsible for helping to regulate the levels of calcium in the blood stream. As such, if something was to go wrong with these glands, then blood calcium levels are going to be abnormal. This can lead to rather unwelcome symptoms such as seizures and tremors.
