Type 2 diabetes is on the rise. Preventative measures and a nutrient-rich diet are essential. In a recent study, intermittent fasting and alternate day fasting was compared. Body weight, fasting glucose, insulin, and insulin sensitivity were measured. The results showed that there was decrease in body weight, fasting insulin, and insulin resistance, and clinically meaningful reductions in glucose levels.
Additionally, a study was made at University of Southern California where mice were tested to see if fasting would cure diabetes. Researchers concluded that a few months of periodic fasting indeed cured the condition.
