Amoxicillin Side Effect #10: Yellow Eyes and Skin
Our livers are responsible for, among other things, breaking down old blood cells. This process produces bilirubin, a yellow pigment. Normally, the liver would process this pigment also, but this does not always happen if the liver is not functioning properly. This yellow pigment is then released into the blood, making the eyes and the skin appear to be yellow.
Amoxicillin can affect the functioning of the liver. This can, in turn, cause you to become jaundiced. The symptoms are quite noticeable and should also be taken seriously. If the patient’s eyes and skin have turned yellow, they should stop using amoxicillin or other medication straight away and contact a doctor.
