Symptom #4: Dark Urine
The kidneys have the job of filtering unwanted items from our blood. Without our kidneys doing this task, our blood will become increasingly toxic and we would, eventually, die. Dialysis can help to keep a patient’s blood as clean as possible but this is nowhere near as effective or efficient as healthy kidneys.
The unwanted substances that the kidneys clean from the blood include things like toxins, pathogens, and excess bilirubin. Once filtered from the blood, these items, including bilirubin, are moved to the bladder. The presence of bilirubin in the urine makes the urine darker, which is noticeable when we urinate.
