Symptom #3: Pale Stools
Bile is a substance that helps us to break down fats. It is stored in the gallbladder, from which it is secreted into the lower intestine when needed. Bile salts in the bile help to give our stools the brown color that is normal for them. If there is a blockage in the system, then these bile salts may not make it into the lower intestine, resulting in pale-colored stools.
Bile also contains a lot of bilirubin. If there is a blockage of the system, it can cause bilirubin to back up into the system and be released into the bloodstream. Such blockages are sometimes the cause of jaundice in the first place.
