Symptom #2: Dyspareunia

Dyspareunia is a medical term that is used to describe painful sexual intercourse because of psychological or medical reasons. For some patients, the pain is on the external genitalia while for others, it is felt in the deeper parts of the pelvis when there is pressure against the cervix.

There are many causes of dyspareunia such as endometriosis, physical, psychological, social, or relationship causes. In most cases, there are multiple contributing factors to the pain. Treatment depends on the underlying cause. Dyspareunia affects approximately 8 to 21% of women at some point during their lives.
