Symptom #6: Fever
A fever is another commonly experienced symptom that’s caused by a wide range of illnesses. It is a result of the body’s defense system deliberately raising the patient’s body temperature in order to make it a hostile place for pathogens. A fever is a common symptom of chikungunya.
While a fever can be very uncomfortable, it is not usually harmful and will usually pass without causing any lasting damage. Regardless, a particularly high fever can be dangerous to us so the patient should be supervised where possible. Because fever is such a common symptom, it is not unusual for chikungunya cases to be misdiagnosed.
