Symptom #5: Insomnia
Sleep is important to us. We may take it for granted but without it, we can become really very ill. A lack of sleep can cause a significant drop in a person’s standard of living, leaving them unable to focus on even the simplest of tasks. Insomnia refers to the inability to get enough sleep and it is a common symptom of chikungunya.
Insomnia associated with chikungunya is likely to last for around a week or so. Although this is unlikely to be long enough to have any lasting impact on their quality of life, it can still be very unpleasant at the time. It can also weaken the patient considerably, making them more susceptible to further illnesses and complications.
