Cause #4: Other Medications

Asides from the painkillers that you are likely to have lying around at home, there are other medications that can also cause peptic ulcers. Medications that fall into this category include certain serotonin reuptake inhibitors, steroids, and anticoagulants. You can always check with your doctor first in case you are unsure.

While the medical community is generally aware that these medications may lead to peptic ulcers, they are still often considered to be necessary. If you have had an ulcer in the past, though, then you should still let your doctor know. Depending on your condition, there may be a more suitable alternative available.
