Antibiotics Side Effect #8: Steven Johnson’s Syndrome
Steven Johnson’s Syndrome, or SJS, is one of the more serious adverse reactions that can occur to someone taking antibiotics. It generally starts off in a similar manner to a flu – you’ll experience a fever and a sore throat. Following this, people generally develop a rash that can grow quite serious and begin to blister. Eventually, the entire top layer of the skin can shed.
Accompanying these unpleasant and painful symptoms can be hives, a cough, and swelling of the face and tongue. Be sure to inform your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.
