Shingles Symptom #2: Pain
The pain associated with shingles has been described by many patients to be quite excruciating. The rashes on the surface of the skin makes it almost impossible to get a good night’s sleep. Some over the counter medication can be taken for pain relief while there are also others who find that creams and antihistamines can help. If you are experiencing an unbearable amount of pain, it is best to see your primary care practitioner to get stronger prescription medication.
Some patients also experience muscle pain specifically in the arms and legs. This can linger for an extended duration even after the episode of shingles have resolved. It is part of the postherpetic neuralgia syndrome.
