The popular Spanish name Mariah is actually of Hebrew origin and has the meaning of “teacher.” The name is derived from a hill on which Isaac was offered up as a sacrifice by his father, Abraham. Other possible meanings include: “the lord is my teacher,” or “Star of the sea,” or “beloved.”
