Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a condition that affects the skin. It causes the patient’s skin to become dry and sensitive as well as inflamed and red. People with the condition will also often experience unbearable itchiness. The skin can become tough and leathery, and it can also become crusty and will sometimes ooze fluid.

When eczema is in a clearly visible place it can cause the patient to feel very self-conscious about their appearance. In severe cases, it can cause the patient to become depressed. There is no known cure but the symptoms can often be treated. It is thought that eczema is sometimes caused by a leaky gut.
