It is not uncommon for pregnant women to develop post nasal drip. In addition, some will also get other related symptoms such as congestion, a runny nose, a cough, and a sore throat. It is not completely understood why this is the case, but it is thought to be related to the changing levels of progesterone and estrogen in their body.

Post nasal drip in itself is not necessarily dangerous to either mother or child. However, it can lead to dehydration in some cases so it is important that the mother continues to take on plenty of fluids to keep them hydrated.
