10 Symptoms of Polymyositis

Symptom #2: Myalgia

Myalgia refers to muscle pain that can be present in various conditions such as overuse or overstretching, viral infections, side effect of medications, potassium deficiency, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disorders, and more. Since there are many possible causes of myalgia, the treatment for it depends on the underlying cause.

If the cause is unknown, it can be treated symptomatically with rest, heat, paracetamol (acetaminophen), non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or naproxen sodium, opioids, benzodiazepines, and more.
