Symptom #3: Junk Food Cravings
What we eat has a profound effect on our mental and physical well-being. It is OK to have some junk food from time to time but we really should eat a fairly healthy, balanced diet overall. People with high levels of cortisol, however, can find that they have cravings for junk foods over any other type of food.
Cortisol has the effect of increasing blood sugar levels. This then causes the body to release more insulin and this, in turn, causes your blood sugar levels to rapidly drop again. These fluctuations leave your body craving more sugar, and this leads to cravings of unhealthy foods that have a high sugar content.
