10 Causes of Ulcers

Ulcers are lesions that develop on internal and external tissues in the body. Most of us are likely to experience mouth ulcers at some point, which can be quite sore even though they are generally harmless. Then there are peptic ulcers, and these are likely to be somewhat more problematic.
Peptic ulcers are found in the stomach’s interior lining and they can be very painful. This is partly because the tissues are exposed to the stomach’s digestive juices, which are caustic to unprotected tissues.
Peptic ulcers are mostly treated with antibiotics, although surgery might be necessary in some cases. Below are 10 causes of ulcers to look out for.

Cause #1: Bacteria
There are many bacteria living in the digestive system. There is no need to be alarmed, though, because the vast majority are harmless to us. In fact, many are even helpful as they help us to metabolize the food that we eat. Not all are so good, though, and some can cause an ulcer.
Helicobacter pylori is one example of bacteria living in the stomach, and it usually causes no harm. Sometimes, though, it can cause the stomach’s lining to become inflamed and an ulcer can be created. Ulcers caused by bacteria are often treated with a course of antibiotics.
